Lines of communication are down between the Justice League director Zack Snyder and the studio who financed the film.
Zack Snyder hasnāt entirely given up on revisiting the Snyder-verse, his series of DCEU films that came to a halt with the release of this yearās
Zack Snyderās Justice League. Snyder has been pretty candid regarding some of the battles he fought to assemble his definitive cut, including one attempt to get the John Stewart incarnation of the Green Lantern character into the film. Whilst the filmmaker lost that battle, he certainly won a few rounds too, but the process seems to have adversely affected his relationship with Warner Bros, with Snyder revealing on an interview on YouTube that since releasing his version of the film, he hasnāt heard a single peep from the studio:
āWell, umā¦no. I havenāt heard from them at all!ā, he said. āAfter I released the movie, I havenāt gotten a phone call. Itās been radio silence. I donātā¦the only communication was [Warner Bros. CEO] Ann [Sarnoff]ās article after the movie was released, but that wasnāt directly to me, that was to the people. So I donāt know. As far as Iām concerned, letās see what happens with Discovery, and thatās cool. Who knows? All I know is that as of yesterday,
Justice League was #1 in the UK again, soā¦ā
Discovery is the new Warner Bros merger thatās taking place, incidentally.
The communication that Snyder is referring to was Sarnoffās public announcement that the Snyder-verse was no more, but it does seem a little strange that Warner Bros, a studio still respected to some degree for their filmmaker-friendly style, hasnāt reached out to Snyder in any capacity.
Perhaps the upcoming merger with Discovery has everybody busy? It certainly smacks of opportunity for Snyder, who seems to be relishing the possibility that a new cadre of higher-ups might take a different approach to the fate of the Snyder-verse. I suppose weāll have to wait and seeā¦
