Woody Allen’s upcoming French language feature may be his last film, according to a recent interview.
Woody Allen’s work rate, pandemic notwithstanding, is usually a film a year. However, his last release was 2020’s Rifkin’s Festival, and with the unveiling of his next film it will be the longest gap between releases since his first and seconds films in 1966 and 1969.
Though he didn’t disclose the title of his next project, he did confirm that he will be shooting in Paris from September. Hinting that the tone will be similar to his 2005 film Match Point, Allen said that he aims to make “a sort of poisonous romantic thriller”. He went on to say that “This will be my 50th feature. It might be the last one.”. Allen also confirmed he has lined up the cast, though he didn’t reveal any names.
Allen previously used the French capital as the backdrop to 2011’s Midnight In Paris, which netted him the Oscar for Best Screenplay.
