It’s a rare day when a Netflix title is given a physical media release. For fans of Wednesday, that day is today.

Wednesday was released on Netflix on 23rd November 2022 and was an instant hit. Critics and audiences praised Jenna Ortega’s take on the iconic character as well as the world building in general.
The series offered a rare look at what Tim Burton’s version of The Addams Family might have looked like. The central mystery was also full of intrigue and there was some pleasingly strange creature design as the titular anti-hero came across the monstrous Hyde monster.

In 2023, Netflix changed how they measure viewership. Instead of counting the total amount of hours viewed, the streamer now looks at total hours watched divided by a project’s runtime. The change pushed Wednesday from one of the best performing titles to the most successful English-language title, pushing the dark fantasy series past Stranger Things.
Netflix is currently busy developing a spin-off focused on Uncle Fester. The character was played by Fred Armisen in Wednesday, but no further details on the project have emerged since the rumours started circulating.
Wednesday is currently gearing up for season 2 which is due to begin production this year. There’s no official release date quite just yet, but we’d say 2025 is a pretty good guess for when we’ll see Wednesday Addams and her kooky family again.
