Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield star in John Crowley’s new romantic drama. Watch the first We Live In Time trailer here.

I’m calling it now. John Crowley’s We Live In Time is going to break our collective heart upon its release.

A24 has released the first trailer for Crowley’s new film, starring Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield and I had tears in my eyes just watching that.

Take a look at the We Live In Time trailer below.

The film seems to track the love story of Garfield’s Tobias and Pugh’s Almut from their meet-cute (she runs him over with her car) to the later stages of their relationship as Almut battles cancer. StudioCanal has the film’s distribution rights in the UK.

Here’s the official synopsis that makes it all seem much more elegant than my words: Almut (Florence Pugh) and Tobias (Andrew Garfield) are brought together in a surprise encounter that changes their lives. As they embark on a path challenged by the limits of time, they learn to cherish each moment of the unconventional route their love story has taken, in filmmaker John Crowley’s decade-spanning, deeply moving romance.

Interestingly, Robert Zemeckis’ Here is another film heading our way soon which tracks a relationship between two people across decades. This seems to be the latest movie trend taking over Hollywood, although much of We Live In Time was filmed on location in London.

We Live In Time is heading to Toronto International Film Festival in September for its world premiere with a US release confirmed for 11th October. While no UK release date has been announced, we’d assume it would be very close to the US one and the film might even pop up in the London Film Festival programme.
