Sony has announced that Venom 3’s official title is Venom: The Last Dance, and has moved its US release date forward from November to October 2024.
The third and final film in Sony’s unholy trinity of Spider-Man adjacent releases for 2024, Venom 3 has now been given an official title – Venom: The Last Dance. Its US release date has also been moved forward a touch – from its original 8th November slot to 25th October. And that’s it. Bye!

As the new title implies, Venom: The Last Dance is billed as Tom Hardy’s final outing as the titular anti-hero, also known as Eddie Brock. British screenwriter Kelly Marcel, who wrote the previous two films – 2018’s Venom and 2021’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage – will also direct as well as produce this time round, making it quite an auteur project.
Little has been disclosed about the plot so far, though Juno Temple, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Clark Backo are all set to co-star in roles unknown.
Sony’s had a bit of a wobbly time with its I Can’t Believe It’s Not Spider-Man superhero films of late, with Morbius released last year to quiet titters and the fallout from Madame Web still ongoing. The studio has Kraven The Hunter left to come this August, though, which will star Aaron Taylor-Johnson as another webslinger adversary given his own breakout movie.
Wikipedia describes the cinematic take on Kraven as a ‘big-game hunter’ and also an ‘animal lover’, which is something we’ll be thinking about for quite a while.
Of the these three films, Venom: The Last Dance is arguably the closest Sony has to a sure-fire hit. Venom, directed by Ruben Fleischer, was an unexpectedly huge success, making over $850m on a relatively lean $100m-ish budget. Venom: Let There Be Carnage, directed by Andy Serkis, made rather less at just over $500m, but it was a remarkably good showing given that the spectre of Covid was still looming in 2021.
Critics have often been grumpy about the Venom films, but they’re enlivened considerably by Tom Hardy’s game, often bizarre dual performance as a scruffy journalist and flesh-eating, garrulous alien parasite.
