Sky Store is set to offer Universal’s theatrical movies from this Friday.
Further details have come to light about Universal’s plans to send a bunch of its theatrical releases to premium video on demand over the coming couple of weeks.
This Friday, the firm will release The Hunt, The Invisible Man and Emma onto home demand services, in spite of them still being on theatrical release. Furthermore, on April 6th, Trolls World Tour will also debut directly on premium video on demand services, instead of getting a theatrical bow.
In the US, the pricing had been set at $19.99 for the films, for a 48 hour rental. We now learn, thanks to some digging via the excellent folks at Vodzilla, that the price in the UK will be £15.99.
That’s calculated as below the price for a family of four to go to the cinema. Thus far, the only service in the UK that’s confirmed for the Universal titles is Sky Store, but expect the films too to appear on the likes of iTunes and feasibly Amazon too.
Separately, Universal has no known plans to bring forward the home release of Cats for the service. The movie remains set for a June 1st disc debut.
