Rock band The Foo Fighters’ comedy-horror film Studio 666 has been given a UK release date – it’s coming to cinemas next month.
Comedy-horror Studio 666 follows The Foo Fighters as they move to a creepy house to record their tenth studio album. The wacky-looking film seemingly features a demon-possessed Dave Grohl, as well as referencing various horror films including The Evil Dead and The Shining. Now, it finally has a UK release date, and it will be the same as in the US – 25th February.
Empire reports band frontman and singer Dave Grohl came up with the idea for the story, while Jeff Buhler (writer of 2019’s Pet Sematary) and Rebecca Hughes (who wrote episodes of sitcom Cracking Up) penned the script. Between the two of them, they’ve got both horror and comedy credentials. Director BJ McDonnell has previously worked on Hatchet III, as well as several music videos for thrash metal band Slayer. So a mixture of horror and rock music? Right up his street.
Sony Pictures will be releasing the film in cinemas in the UK and Ireland. Based on the trailer for the film, Grohl and the rest of the band aren’t afraid of making fun of themselves. There’s plenty of jokes about writers’ block, and how after several albums the music starts to sound pretty familiar. In 2020, Grohl also made a cameo appearance as himself in Bill & Ted Face The Music.
