From writer and director Aaron Sorkin comes The Trial Of The Chicago 7 – a film that’s now set for a Netflix debut next month.
Originally set for a cinema release this autumn before the project was sold to Netflix, Aaron Sorkin’s new film The Trial Of The Chicago 7 will now hit the streaming service next month following a brief theatrical window.
The film centres on riots not far from the 1968 Chicago Democrat convention, where a peaceful protest against the Vietnam War took a bloody turn. The subsequent trial, as the title of the film suggests, will be the main focus of the movie.
Sorkin – who has penned the script and is directing the film – has attracted quite the ensemble to the project. Sacha Baron Cohen, Eddie Redmayne, Jeremy Strong, Frank Langella, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Kelvin Harrison Jr, J C Mackenzie, Michael Keaton and Mark Rylance are all on board.
The latest trailer for the project has now landed too, and it looks like this…
Here’s the first trailer too from earlier in the month.
The film arrives on the service from October 16th. What’s more, it looks like it’s getting a limited UK cinema release as well on October 2nd.
We’ll leave you with the film’s official synopsis…
What was intended to be a peaceful protest at the 1968 Democratic National Convention turned into a violent clash with police and the National Guard. The organizers of the protest—including Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Rubin, Tom Hayden and Bobby Seale—were charged with conspiracy to incite a riot and the trial that followed was one of the most notorious in history.
