Josh Hartnett stars in M Night Shyamalan’s latest film – the serial killer, Trap. Watch the new trailer here:
Having popped up in Black Mirror and Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, we’re getting plenty of Josh Hartnett on our screens. My teenage self is very happy.
The actor will next be seen in M Night Shyamalan’s latest film, Trap. Details on the film have been scarce, but we do know it centres on a serial killer attending a concert.
Well, there’s a Trap trailer now. Here it is:
Hartnett plays a serial killer who takes his teenage daughter to see Lady Raven in concert, only to find out the police are unto him and the whole thing is an elaborate plan to catch him.
The film looks like a straightforward cat-and-mouse thriller as Hartnett tries to outsmart the officers who have him seemingly surrounded. That being said, this is an M Night Shyamalan joint, so we can expect a twist or two, considering the famed director has also written the script for the film.

Joining Hartnett in the film’s cast are Ariel Donoghue, Hayley Mills and Allison Pill while Shyamalan’s daughter Saleika Shyamalan will play Lady Raven, making her acting debut. Saleika shouldn’t be confused with M Night’s other daughter Ishana Night Shyamalan who is making her directorial debut this summer with The Watchers.
M Night Shyamalan’s last film was 2023’s Knock At The Cabinwhich was met with mixed reviews. Trap looks intriguing, especially as it gives Hartnett the opportunity to play against his usual type.
“What I’m looking for is someone that’s willing to just let go completely, give themselves over like a play to the movie and leap, leap, leap — don’t protect yourself,” Shyamalan said of Hartnett, as reported by Variety. “That beautiful electricity that requires the right actor at the right time in their life. And that’s where Josh was when when I when I met him,”
Trap will be released in UK cinemas on the 9th August.
