Saw X brings terror, torture and Jigsaw back to cinemas in September ā and here’s the first trailer.
Between 2004 and 2010, the Saw franchise could be relied upon to deliver a new instalment every Halloween, each one showcasing a surprisingly large number of ways to inflict pain on the human body, as well as building on the increasingly convoluted, twisty narrative of serial killer John Kramer/Jigsaw and his various accomplices.
Saw X aims to return the franchise to its roots by putting Tobin Bell front and centre, along with fellow returning star Shawnee Smith as his damaged protégé Amanda.
During a panel at Midsummer Scream on the 29th July, director Kevin Greutert said that Saw X will be the longest film in the series. The synopsis reads as follows:
Set between the events of Saw I and Saw II, a sick and desperate John travels to Mexico for a risky and experimental medical procedure in hopes of a miracle cure for his cancer — only to discover the entire operation is a scam to defraud the most vulnerable.Armed with a newfound purpose, the infamous serial killer returns to his work, turning the tables on the con artists in his signature visceral way through devious, deranged and ingenious traps.
Bell and Smith star alongside Steven Brand, Synnøve Macody Lund, Renata Vaca, Paulette Hernandez, Joshua Okamoto, Octavio Hinojosa and Michael Beach
Kevin Greutert, who served as editor from Saw to Saw V, directing Saw VI and Saw 3D, directs from a screenplay by Spiral writers Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger.
Saw X will hit cinemas on the 29th September.
