National Treasure: Edge Of History is heading to Disney+ in December – it’s not National Treasure 3, but will have to do. For pure entertainment value, the National Treasure films are hard to beat when you need a bit of a switch off. Boasting fun adventure plots and with Nicolas Cage on fine form, talks have been ongoing about a third installment since the release of Book Of Secrets back in 2007. Finally, we now have more adventures to look forward to, as the ten part series National Treasure: Edge Of History comes to Disney+. The official synopsis reads as follows: Jess Valenzuela, a young dreamer, embarks on the adventure of a lifetime to uncover the truth about her family’s mysterious past and save a lost Pan-American treasure. Justin Bartha and Harvey Keitel reprise their film roles as Riley Poole and Peter Sadusky, respectively. Lisette Olivera stars as Jess, alongside Zuri Reed, Antonio Cipriano, Jordan Rodrigues, Jake Austin Walker, Lyndon Smith, and Catherine Zeta-Jones. There’s continuity with the films behind the scenes too, as original writers Cormac and Marianne Wibberley have penned scripts for the show. They also serve as executive producers alongside original director Jon Turteltaub and producer Jerry Bruckheimer. Though Cage isn’t attached to the show in any official capacity, the producers are keen to get him involved if further seasons are commissioned. As far as the film franchise is concerned, a third chapter is currently in development, but there is no timeline on when it might go before the cameras. National Treasure: Edge Of History will stream exclusively on Disney+ from the 14th December.
