Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the multiplex, a trailer has been released for the IMAX remaster of Jaws.Jaws, the film that became the initiator of the summer blockbuster, is returning to cinemas in September. The franchise has been the subject of a number of projects in recent years, perhaps most notably the West End play The Shark Is Broken, which chronicled actors Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw and Richard Dreyfuss as they bickered on the set. Shawās son Ian co-wrote and acted in the play.
Now, Jaws is returning to cinemas. Itās had an upgrade too, youāll be able to see it not only in IMAX, but also ā perhaps less interestingly ā in Real 3D (if youāre doing a 3D re-release of Jaws, go for Jaws 3-D you cowardsā¦).
President of IMAX Megan Colligan said that āIMAX is thrilled to partner with Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment to offer audiences the opportunity to experience these two iconic films in IMAX for the very first time. Steven Spielberg redefined modern cinema and ushered in a new era of bold, swing-for-the-fences filmmaking, and the IMAX Experience has expanded around the world because of the trail blazed by films like E.T. and Jaws.ā
Jaws will be rereleased in UK cinemas on the 9th September. Watch the trailer belowā¦
