Over a decade after the original, here’s the first trailer for Disenchanted, the long awaited Enchanted 2.Enchanted may just be one of the most delightful films Disney has ever made since the turn of the century. It is difficult to imagine anybody else playing the lead role in it, Princess Giselle, as well as Amy Adams, and the script combined classic Disney touchpoints with a postmodern meta awareness. The film did big business too, taking over $340 million on a budget of $40 million.
It is something of a surprise, then, that it’s taken over ten years for a sequel to make its way to the screen. But it’s nearly here, and the first trailer has landed.
The official synopsis for Disenchanted reads as follows:
Fifteen years after her happily ever after, Giselle, Robert, and Morgan move to a new house in the suburb of Monroeville. The community is overseen by Malvina Monroe, who has nefarious intentions for the family. When problems arise, Giselle wishes that their lives were the perfect fairy tale. The spell backfires, and Giselle must rush to save her family and her homeland of the Kingdom of Andalasia before the clock strikes midnight.
Returning from Enchanted are Amy Adams as Giselle and Patrick Dempsey as her husband Robert. Idina Menzel and James Marsden also reprise their roles. Newcomers include Maya Rudolph as Malvina and Gabriella Baldacchino as Morgan (who replaces Rachel Covey from the first film). Yvette Nicole Brown, Jayma Mays, Kolton Stewart, Oscar Nunez and Griffen Newman are also in the cast.
Adam Shankman directs from a screenplay by Richard LaGravenese, J. David Stern and David N. Weiss. Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz have once again penned the songs.
Disenchanted will be released exclusively on Disney+ on the 24th November. Watch that aforementioned trailer below…
