Arriving on Amazon Prime Video on the 2nd July, a trailer for The Tomorrow War has been released.
Looking stylistically reminiscent to Edge Of Tomorrow, The Tomorrow War sees Pratt as an ex-military family man who is sent to the future to battle in a war, in the place of his wife (Betty Gilpin) in order to protect their young daughter… and y’know, the fate of humanity.
An interesting but mind-bending concept, using people from the past to save the future, the film is directed by Chris McKay (The Lego Batman Movie) and despite it’s intense subject matter, sees Pratt delivering the witty one-liners he’s become synonymous with. Whilst this film doesn’t see Pratt headed off in to space, he’s no stranger to sci-fi fare and the film looks comfortably held on his shoulders during the action packed trailer. We’ve also got some classic father son drama, with J.K. Simmons showing up as Pratt’s long estranged father and hints of buddy cop vibes with Sam Richardson’s Charlie.
Check it out below, but we recommend skipping the last 5 seconds which shows the enemy – we all know showing the creature too soon ruins the movie, so I’d avert your eyes.
Full synopsis: In The Tomorrow War, the world is stunned when a group of time travelers arrive from the year 2051 to deliver an urgent message: Thirty years in the future mankind is losing a global war against a deadly alien species. The only hope for survival is for soldiers and civilians from the present to be transported to the future and join the fight. Among those recruited is high school teacher and family man Dan Forester (Chris Pratt). Determined to save the world for his young daughter, Dan teams up with a brilliant scientist (Yvonne Strahovski) and his estranged father (J.K. Simmons) in a desperate quest to rewrite the fate of the planet.
