The 1987 hit The Witches Of Eastwick is being lined up for the Hollywood remake treatment, it’s been revealed: more details.
Hollywood’s back on the remake train again, and this time is has George Miller’s much-loved 1987 movie The Witches Of Eastwick in its sights. The original starred Michelle Pfeiffer, Cher, Susan Sarandon and Jack Nicholson, and was a sizeable box office hit. One that’s done continual business on home formats too.
The new film is being set up at Warner Bros – who backed the original – and Ninja Thyberg has been hired by the studio to direct the film. She’s also going to be writing the screenplay as well. Miller’s film was based on John Updike’s novel, so she may lean more into that than the original film.
We’re some way away from casting news on the movie though, with this being a project in its relative infancy. Thyberg is currently taking her debut movie, Pleasure, around the festival circuit. When we get more updates on the new The Witches Of Eastwick, we’ll let you know.
