Just as the BBC adds the second season of The Traitors USA to its iPlayer service, we get the news that the hugely successful first run of the UK version is coming to physical media. Given that the show has been freely available on the BBC’s iPlayer service, this is something of a surprise, but it’s a welcome one. The more physical media the better.

Dazzler Media is the company behind the release, a firm that’s gone out of its way to bring a whole host of titles to physical media over the last couple of years. A firm that has not paid us to write those words either.
The series will be spanning three discs in the pack, with a cited running time of nine hours. Nothing in the information thus far suggests there will be any extra features provided, and in truth, we’d be rather surprised if there were any. The fact that that’s a disc release at all feels like something of a surprise.

The show unfolds in a beautiful castle nestled in the Scottish Highlands, where 22 strangers engage in a high-stakes reality game. Their mission? To win up to £120,000. However, lurking among the players are the “Traitors”-a clandestine group that secretly decides who to eliminate from their fellow contestants, known as the “Faithfuls”. The tension escalates as players question everything and everyone, while host Claudia Winkleman assigns three Traitors in secret.
No word yet on whether further series of the show will get the same treatment. Do check out series two of the Australian The Traitors on iPlayer though. It’s rubbish for the first half, but heck, stick with it…
