Richard Osman’s The Thursday Murder Club has wrapped filming in Shepperton Studios – and the crew have a nice picture by a stately home to prove it.
The Thursday Murder Club movie is one of the more anticipated projects being beavered upon (behave) at Netflix. Richard Osman’s bestselling book series about a group of crime-solving pensioners is one of the few fiction launches in recent years that we can unambiguously label a phenomenon. The first book quickly became the fastest selling debut crime novel in history, and the follow-ups haven’t done half-bad either.
The film adaption, too, has plenty of star power in front of and behind the camera. Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley, Celia Imrie and David Tennant have been doing a spot of acting, with Chris Columbus directing and Steven Spielberg producing.
All of which is a long-winded way of introducing the news that the film has finished shooting. We’d apologise, but frankly, we did already tell you that in the headline.
In related news, the crew seem to have gotten together for a group photo in front of a very nice house (see above). Which house, you might ask? To be totally transparent, we haven’t the foggiest. The closest we can get is “maybe somewhere in Buckinghamshire”, but we appreciate that’s not entirely helpful if you’re planning a visit.
When is The Thursday Murder Club movie coming out, you might also ask? Also no idea. Sorry. They’ll be taking away our journalism license at this rate.
We do know it’s coming to Netflix, though, and seems to have come together rather quickly since the streamer picked up the rights in April. If we had to guess, we’d say a release in the first half of 2025 isn’t out of the question. Or maybe the second half. Before 2028, certainly. 2030 at the latest.
Phew. We hope you’re feeling well informed. We need a lie down.
