The new Mission: Impossible films are the latest to be delayed

Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt will be late getting back to work, as the next two Mission: Impossible films are the latest to be delayed. More release date shuffles were announced over the weekend, with Paramount Pictures the latest to delay a bunch of films. In this instance due to production delays brought about by the Coronavirus lockdown around the world, that means the films in question aren’t going to get made in time. Mission: Impossible 7 and Mission: Impossible 8 were being shot pretty much back to back, with Christopher McQuarrie returning to write and direct, with Tom Cruise in the lead role. Furthermore, filming was underway on the first of the two films, with location filming taking place in Italy when the production was placed on pause. Since then, there’s not been much sign of filming starting again, with one rumour being the Italian element of the film being abandoned altogether (not confirmed, we should add). What’s more definite is that the two films have now been put back. Mission: Impossible 7 had been due in cinemas next July, but now moves to November 19^th 2021. Mission: Impossible 8 was on the slate for August 2022, and now that’ll be with us on November 4^th 2022.
