Snake Eyes is picking up the mantle of the GI Joe movies, and filming is done.

Following 2009’s G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra – a film that did decent money but hardly won fans over – Paramount and Hasbro has been juggling what to do next with the G.I. Joe movie franchise.

Finally, a decade on, we have an answer. Rather than going for a further sequel or a straight reboot, we’re getting a spin-off.

The new film is Snake Eyes – nothing to do with the Brian De Palma thriller that Nicolas Cage headlined – and the full cast features Henry Golding, Andrew Koji, Haruka Abe, Iko Uwais, Takehiro Hira and Samara Weaving.

The script has been penned by Evan Spiliotopoulos, and it’ll follow – as you may have guessed – the character of ninja commando Snake Eyes in the film. Robert Schwentke is directing.

The movie is scheduled for release on October 23rd 2020, and a start of production photo call took place in Japan in early January. And now we have the end of production confirmed too. It’s been a brisk shoot this, and the new movie is in the can. Here’s the social media post to prove it…

More on the movie as we hear it.
