A24 has released a trailer for The Green Knight, starring Dev Patel.
We finally have a proper look at the upcoming A24 release The Green Knight, and boy is it a good look.
Patel is continuing his reign as a steadfast leading man, giving us brooding intensity as well as vulnerability. The visuals look gorgeous and kudos to the trailer editor who has worked marvels with pacing – it truly looks like one of the most exciting upcoming releases this summer, and that’s without even mentioning a talking fox!
Here’s the films plot ahead of that trailer –
An epic fantasy adventure based on the timeless Arthurian legend, The Green Knight tells the story of Sir Gawain (Dev Patel), King Arthur’s reckless and headstrong nephew, who embarks on a daring quest to confront the eponymous Green Knight, a gigantic emerald-skinned stranger and tester of men. Gawain contends with ghosts, giants, thieves, and schemers in what becomes a deeper journey to define his character and prove his worth in the eyes of his family and kingdom by facing the ultimate challenger. From visionary filmmaker David Lowery comes a fresh and bold spin on a classic tale from the knights of the round table.
Whilst keeping all the expected touches of a medieval epic that one would expect, there’s plenty of mind bending A24 antics at play. Scenes of Patel’s head up in flames, large giant creatures roaming the Earth, it makes sense why A24 has held this one back until a guaranteed cinema release.
The Green Knight will be debuted in UK cinemas on the 6th August. I’ll be busy watching the trailer on repeat until then.
