The Empire Strikes Back and Near Dark get BFI Classics treatment

Three brand new books are heading our way from the BFI, as a trio of movies get the BFI Classics treatment – more information here. The terrific BFI Film Classics series of books extends further at the end of this month, with the release of three more titles in the series. The series, if you’ve not encountered them before – in the BFI’s own words – “introduces, interprets and celebrates landmarks of world cinema”, including an argument within each that the film in question is indeed a classic. The three new titles, then. Rebecca Harrison has written the BFI Classic book on The Empire Strikes Back, the 1960 movie The Cloud-Capped Star has been examined by Manishita Dass, whilst Stacy Abbot has tackled Near Dark.
