Warner Bros still sounds like it wants to get Christopher Nolan’s Tenet out late summer, but its release plan is changing, with Europe likely to get the film first.
Warner Bros is hastily rewriting its strategy for the release of Christopher Nolan’s eagerly-awaited new film, Tenet. The film had been delayed twice before it arrived at the date of August 12th for a global rollout, but the movie was finally taken off the release schedules last week in the light of growing cases of Covid-19 in America.
Now, Warner Bros – as hinted last week – is said to moving away from the idea of releasing the film simultaneously around the world, and is instead edging towards a staggered rollout. Whilst it hasn’t announced any new dates yet, The Hollywood Reporter is now suggesting that the film will open in Europe at the end of August, and in parts of America in early September. However, it seems the studio isn’t too keen to announce another date and have to postpone it, and the situation is said to be ‘fluid’.
As things stand, the first big blockbuster movie release since March is set to be Disney’s Mulan, which has kept its August release date (after a couple of delays).
More as we hear it, of course. But don’t expect an announcement on Tenet until Warner Bros has cemented its new release plan.
