More details have surfaced regarding the upcoming prequel to 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road and you can check them out here.
Back in 2015
Mad Max: Fury Road wowed audiences with its lunatic sense of scale and ambition, pulling off the sort of practical action movie spectacle that was sorely missing from cinema as CGI effects work continued to become more and more widespread. The film even had a huge presence at the Oscars too, winning a host of technical awards. George Miller’s follow-up,
Furiosa, has been a long time coming but things are really coming together now for the production which is well underway and by the sound of it, is easily Australia’s biggest ever movie shoot.
We’re learning new tidbits about the film, including a synopsis for the film which reads: āAs the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus. Sweeping through the Wasteland they come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe. While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home.ā
The synopsis seems to suggest that that Chris Hemsworth, who will be once again playing against type in the film, is set to play the lead antagonist, which may be either Dementus or a younger version of Immortan Joe. Taking on sinister roles is becoming a more regular choice for Hemsworth, following his nefarious turns in this yearās
Spiderhead and 2018’s underrated
Bad Times At The El Royale.
Directed by George Miller, who has co-written the script alongside Nick Lathouris,
Mad Max: Furiosa stars Anya Taylor-Joy as the title character, along with Tom Burke and Hemsworth. The film has a release date scheduled for May 24th 2024. We’ll bring you more on this one as we hear it.
