Stardust, from director Matthew Vaughn, is making its 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray debut this autumn ā more details on the release here.
After years of producing, Matthew Vaughn made the jump to feature directing with the impressive Layer Cake, released in 2004.
Yet his next feature was a very deliberate step in the right direction, and arguably stands as the finest movie Vaughn has directed to date. It’s 2007’s delightful fantasy adventure Stardust, a movie that brings together Claire Danes, Charlie Cox, Michelle Pfeiffer, ‘and’ Mark Strong, Rupert Everett, Peter O’Toole, a young Henry Cavill, and Sienna Miller.
Based on Neil Gaiman’s story, it was a relatively expensive movie at the time, particular for a British film, with a bill approaching $80m. Its box office return of $137m globally wasn’t enough to trigger a hoped-for sequel, and Vaughn would instead go off to pursue Kick-Ass instead.
Yet it remains a shame he’s not made another film of the ilk of Stardust, which was and is a real treat. And, we now learn – the whole point of this particular news piece in fairness – that the film will be making its 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray debut later this year.
Paramount is set to release the film on the 4K format on 23rd September 2024, initially in posh Steelbook set.
You can find more information on the release, and order yourself a copy, right here.
The Steelbook set includes collectable art cards as well, and from what we can gleam, there’s both a 4K disc and a Blu-ray included. That means previous extra features should be carried across.
The disc is available to preorder now. While you’re deciding whether you fancy a copy or not, we’ll leave you with the brief synopsis for the movie…
In a countryside town bordering on a magical land, a young man makes a promise to his beloved that heāll retrieve a fallen star by venturing into the magical realm. Based on Neil Gaimanās fantasy graphic novel.
