Showcase Cinemas has announced how it’s going to be handling the relaxation of Covid restrictions in England from Monday.
From Monday July 19th, it’s pretty well known by now that many restrictions that have been in place across the last year and a bit will be lifted. For cinemas, that means that social distancing comes to an end, and they can also operate at full capacity. The government has placed the onus on cinemas to offer discretionary guidelines instead, and Showcase has issued its own guidance.
At cost to itself if I’m reading this right, it’ll continue to put an empty seat between each party booking in its auditoria. In Scotland, where rules will differ slightly, social distancing will remain in place, with a one metre distance rule. In Wales, there is no relaxation of existing rules.
Furthermore, Showcase will continue to use Perspex screens at its counters, and staff will be wearing face coverings for the coming weeks too. It will not be making the wearing of masks compulsory for patrons, but will be recommending that people wear one.
These changes, as we mentioned, come into force this coming Monday.
