The Idris Elba-headlined western The Harder They Fall could be getting a follow-up, according to its director.
When
The Harder They Fall landed on Netflix in 2021, it did that things that we see straight-to-streaming movies sometimes do: fizzling away without any real fanfare. Thatās a shame too as it was a fun film with a great ensemble cast. It scored some good reviews as well, not to mention giving us an interesting twist on the classic western.
The film boasted an exciting line-up, including Idris Elba, Regina King, Zazie Beetz, LaKeith Stanfield, Jonathan Majors and Delroy Lindo. The story was a revenge tale about a man who finds out that his parents’ killer has been released from jail and thus forms a group to go and serve him justice.
Maybe it was the perceived lack of interest in the western genre, maybe itās just the modern curse of films that debut straight-to-streaming but
The Harder They Fall didnāt make a huge splash. Still, there might just be a follow-up in the works, with
Dark Horizons covering a tweet by the first filmās director, Jeymes Samuel, in response to a fan asking about the possibility of a sequel.
Samuelās response was short, but will be welcome news for those hoping for a follow-up:“…there is” was his brief response.
Whether the project has been green-lit, whether itās at Netflix, whether the original cast are returning is all unconfirmed but those that did see
The Harder They Fall are sure to be pleased. Weāll bring you more updates on this one as we hear it.
