The planned remake of Scarface is back on, with the Coen brothers now writing the film, and the director of Call Me By Your Name at the helm.
For a few years now, there’s been developing done on what would be another remake of the film Scarface. The story has been told in 1932 and 1983, with Howard Hawks directing the first version, and Brian De Palma tackling the story with Al Pacino in the lead role.
Now, though, a new version is coming to the screen, with Universal hiring Luca Guadagnino to direct the movie. His last two films were Call Me By Your Name and the remake of Suspiria.
Furthermore, adding to the gravitas of the project, the latest draft of the screenplay has been penned by Joel and Ethan Coen.
The news we await now is who will take the title role in the movie. We’ll let you know as we hear more, as we suspect the rest of the internet will as well. No word yet on release dates…
