Following the success of Talk To Me, directors Danny & Michael Philippou will team up with A24 again on Bring Her Back, starring Sally Hawkins.
A24 hit gold with Talk To Me, Danny & Michael Philippou’s ridiculously popular horror film featuring a creepy hand and a bunch of teenagers playing with it. It doesn’t come as a surprise that the powerhouse studio wants to team up with the brothers again for what they’re hoping will be another horror sensation.
Deadline reports that Danny & Michael Philippou are now working on a film called Bring Her Back and Sally Hawkins will play the lead. Production is due to start this summer.
No plot details as of yet, but that’s to be expected. A24 will want to keep those close to the chest until the film is nearing completion. There’s no release date either.
This is pure speculation, but could the film’s title hint at another possession horror? Or something to do with contacting the dead again? Talk To Me memorably featured teenagers grabbing the creepy hand and talking with spirits, with disastrous consequences.
Talk To Me was the Philippou brothers’ first feature film and it premiered at Sundance to rave reviews and ultimately became A24’s second highest grossing horror film ever, only behind Ari Aster’s Hereditary. A sequel was quickly greenlit and titled Talk 2 Me. Both brothers will co-direct the sequel while Danny is reuniting with Talk To Me co-writer Bill Hinzman to work on the script.
A24 has produced some of the buzziest horror films of the last decade. The studio has created a safe haven for directors like Aster to make challenging films that differ from the mainstream, but appeal to a younger audience who then spread the word online and on social media. A24 is currently busy promoting Rose Glass’ follow-up to Saint Maud, Love Lies Bleeding, starring Kristen Stewart and Katy O’Brien.
