Paramount offloads more of its slate to streaming services, this time in the form of a planned Shawn Levy-directed, Skydance-produced adventure film.
Elsewhere on the Film Stories website today, weāve talked about Paramount selling its Tom Clancy action thriller Without Remorse to Amazon. This of course is the latest step in the studioās strategy to reduce risk in these uncertain times. Paramount has already sold The Lovebirds and The Trial of the Chicago Seven to Netflix and now, thanks to The Hollywood Reporter, itās been revealed that itās continued in that form by selling an as-yet-unnamed Ryan Reynolds time travel adventure to the streaming giant.
Once titled Our Name Is Adam, the film is being produced by Skydance, who also brought The Old Guard to Netflix and weāll bet the positive reception to that action movie hasnāt harmed the chances of further collaboration between the two companies.
Shawn Levy, producer (and director of several episodes) of Stranger Things is helming the movie, having recently worked with Reynolds on the upcoming video game-themed adventure film, Free Guy, which is set to hit cinemas by the end of the year.
For Paramount, itās another case of the company adopting a pragmatic approach to navigating this period of cinema shutdowns and depending on how long this situation endures, announcements like this may become increasingly common.
