Ron Howard’s latest film has been put back to the end of the year, as test screening scores go through the roof.
It’s being reported by
Deadline that Ron Howard’s latest film,
Thirteen Lives, has been delayed by seven months. But for a change, this isn’t a pandemic delay story, nor the tale of a film with problems. Instead, the film is seemingly too good to release at Easter, as originally intended. The studio – MGM – has reportedly received the best test audience scores in its history for the film, which charts the ‘the globally watched rescue mission assembled in Thailand after a group of young boys and their soccer coach are trapped in a system of underground caves that are flooding.’
Instead of an April debut, the film, penned by Wiliam Nicholson, will now get a November 18th opening, as MGM looks to place it in prime position for a major run at awards gold. If the film can capture some of the drama of the real-life story upon which it is based, and if the anticipation around the movie’s quality is justified, we could be in for quite the film.
Viggo Mortensen, Colin Farrell and Joel Edgerton star in the film which Howard directs and produces.
When we hear an official UK release date, we’ll let you know, likewise, when a trailer for the film surfaces, you can be sure it will be right here. As well as across the rest of the internet too.
