Robert Zemeckis looks set to jump from The Witches to Pinocchio.
Busy times right now for director Robert Zemeckis. Since he completed 2018’s Welcome To Marwen, he’s been hard at work on the new big screen adaptation of Roald Dahl’s The Witches, that’s coming to cinemas later this year. He’s also been strongly linked with a new science fiction movie (entitled Areas) to jump onto once that is done. Yet Disney has come calling, and said science fiction project – of which you can read more about here – may now have to wait.
Zemeckis has landed the job of co-writing (with Chris Weitz) and directing one of Disney’s live action takes on its animated movies. In this case, he’ll be bringing a live action version of Pinocchio to the big screen.
Furthermore, this one looks like it’s moving quite quickly too, to the point where it’s likely to become the next film on Zemeckis’ docket. The aim is potentially to have filming underway by the end of the year.
No release date has been announced as of yet. More, as always, as we have it.
