After a post-lockdown stint in Ireland, then shooting in Iceland, Robert Eggersā highly-anticipated next project has completed filming.
With two searingly good films behind him in the form of 2015ās
The Witch and last yearās
The Lighthouse, interest in Robert Eggerās next directorial project was always going to be elevated. That project,
The Northman ā a tenth century Viking revenge drama ā has now wrapped production, according to
Dark Horizons, so hopefully weāll get to see it at some point next year.
The film takes place in Iceland in the early middle ages, and was co-written by Eggers alongside Icelandic novelist, Sjón Sigurdsson. Little else is known about the project so far, as details have been kept securely under wraps.
We do however know the cast and there is no shortage of talent wishing to collaborate with Eggers following the impact of his previous two films. Anya Taylor-Joy, Nicole Kidman, Alexander Skarsgard, Willem Dafoe, Ethan Hawke, Claes Bang, Kate Dickie, Ralph Ineson and singer-songwriter Bjork are in the ensemble.
The film previously shot in Ireland after being delayed in March when the pandemic hit.
The film will be released by Focus Features in the US with Universal handling distribution in the UK and internationally. You can be sure weāll bring you more details on this one as we hear them.
