Planned film Boy In The Corner has reached the halfway point in its crowdfunding drive, with just over a week to go – and it needs a bit of support.
Whilst it’s a bit of a cliche to suggest that UK film consists only of Ken Loach films, period dramas and gritty crime flicks, there’s been a dab of truth to it too.
However, as this country’s period of social instability looks set to continue for some time yet to come, as social and community funding continue to dwindle, it seems that social realism cinema is more relevant than ever. Studio 7 Films is seeking to examine the spread of gang culture and knife crime on our streets with the production of Boy in the Corner, a planned feature film thatcurrently has just over a week left to go on Kickstarter.
The synopsis for the planned film reads as follows:
BOY IN THE CORNER is a social coming of age crime drama about a young 15-year-old boy, Myles; A troubled but promising and talented young boy. He holds a strong creative drive and passion, but he is always told to suppress it, either verbally or through disadvantaging actions by society, his school, and even sometimes those close to him. While losing his creative release, Myles finds himself on more of a destructive path, losing trust from friends and family as he falls into the attractive arms of gang life and gang culture.
