Thereās a host of new faces involved too, whose contributions weāre very much looking forward to. Christopher Walken has been cast as Emperor Shaddam IV, ruler of the known universe. The character of the Emperor casts a shadow over the events of the first film, but will actually appear in the sequel. Florence Pugh and Austin Butler, the latter of whom is currently wowing audiences in Baz Luhrmannās Elvis, have also joined the project. Pugh will play play Princess Irulan, the daughter of the Emperor, whilst Butler will be portraying Feyd-Rautha, the role played by Sting in the 1984 version of the film directed by David Lynch. The new recruits will join existing faces such as Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem and Josh Brolin. Denis Villeneuve publicly campaigned for a Dune sequel, and his first film did brisk enough business, earning over $400m, which was enough to convince Warner Bros to greenlight a follow-up. The casting in Dune was one of the film’s many strong elements, and the sequel certainly looks set to continue that trend. Shooting has now begun in Budapest with a 2023 release date slated for November. Weāll bring you more on this one as we hear it. ā Thank you for visiting!
