Add another streaming service to the mix, as Paramount+ arrives in March, with plans for a global rollout.
Paramount Pictures has confirmed that it’s launching a fresh salvo into the streaming battle with the launch of its Paramount+ service this coming March.
It’s not an entirely new proposition, as it’s actually a rebrand of the company’s existing CBS All Access service that’s currently available in the US. But from March 4th, the new service will replace the old.
Parent company Viacom has announced the news, that’ll bring together over 20,000 movies and TV episodes from the likes of Paramount, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon and MTV. It’s the bolstering of the service with a larger number of Paramount properties that’s likely to be its best chance of carving out a space in the streaming market.
In terms of a UK release? Well, there isn’t one that’s currently been announced. Not that Paramount+ will be a US-only service. It’s been confirmed that it’ll be launched in Australia by the middle of the year, whilst a European launch will commence in Scandinavia from the end of March.
From the off, it’s been known that Viacom wants this to be a global service, and thus we’d imagine this one’s a case of when it makes it to Britain rather than if. But thus far, all quiet on that front.
