Following the likes of Netflix and Disney+, Paramount+ is now changing its packages and increasing its price in the UK.
Each of the high profile streaming services has been feeling the pinch a little this year, or at the very least has tried to make us feel it. Netflix and Disney+ have implemented price rises and crackdowns on password sharing, Amazon has added advertising as standard unless you choose to opt out of it. Apple TV+? Yep, the price of that has gone up as well. And now at the end of the year, Paramount+ is taking its place in the queue.
Appreciating there’s some good stuff on Paramount+ and a whole host of movies too, the streamer – the home of Yellowstone – has been flying under the radar a little in the UK. Its monthly subscription price was a modest £6.99. Now, the firm want an extra quid a month off us, and the price is going up to £7.99 a month for its standard tier.
That’s not all though. Paramount is also following the market trend by splitting its service int three options. If you want the cheap version with adverts, the package for that is now £4.99 a month. The standard package is £7.99, and comes with HD streaming and two concurrent connections.
And now there’s a top end option as well. For £10.99 a month, you can get Paramount+ in 4K Ultra HD, and have four streams on the go at once.
Price rises are kicking in next month for existing customers, and the round robin of emails has begun to be sent out. Top tip though, but don’t hold us to it: if you subscribe to the service via Amazon, and cancel? You’ll be offered a three month half price option. Presumably you need to have been a customer for a little while though. Worth a try.
The new different packages are effective from today.
