The Noah Baumbach-directed White Noise, starring Adam Driver and Greta Gerwig, will open Venice Film Festival ahead of its Netflix release.
Based on Don DeLillo’s book of the same name,
White Noise will be the first Netflix film to ever open a festival. Adapted for screen and directed by
Marriage Story's Noah Baumbach, the drama is about an American family dealing with conflicts of everyday life. Meanwhile, they’re also pondering the bigger mysteries of love, death, and finding happiness.
It stars Adam Driver (who’s worked with Baumbach before on
Marriage Story) and Greta Gerwig. Don Cheadle, Raffey Cassidy and Jodie Turner-Smith are among the supporting cast. On top of writing and directing, Baumbach also acts as producer alongside David Heyman and Uri Singer.
The Venice Film Festival screening, which will also be
White Noise's world premiere, will take place on Wednesday 31st August in the Sala Grande at the Palazzo del Cinema – the festival’s host venue. The festival will then run until 10th September.
With the film’s premiere date confirmed, we’re still waiting for a Netflix release date. We’ll keep you informed and bring you more news as we hear it.
