Nicolas Cage has given a brief update on the planned sequel to one of the 1990s wildest action movies ā and he might just be involved in Face/Off 2.
Nicolas Cage is ā you might have noticed ā enjoying something of a revival these days. Whilst the series of non-studio films heās made in the last ten years still boast legions of fans, and rightly so, the actorās return to major motion pictures seems long overdue. That return seems set to continue with Cage revisiting one of his most iconic roles from the 1990s, the unhinged villain Caster Troy from 1997ās
Face/Off.
Whilst talking to
Comic Book, Cage was asked about the possibility of reprising any of his former roles and whilst indicating that he wouldnāt appear in any more
National Treasure films, a
Face/Off sequel continues to look like a likely prospect.
Said Cage, āthere have been some phone calls with Neal [Moritz], who I enjoyed very much working with on the first
Face/Off. Heās one of the true great producers in Hollywood, and they have been making some calls. The other ones like
National Treasure, their priority was a TV show and godspeed to them, but maybe
Face/Off.ā
This certainly chimes with what Adam Wingard has said about the project since Paramount announced that the
Godzilla Vs Kong director was attached to the project. Wingard has also talked about how fun it would be to revisit both Cage and Travoltaās characters, alongside some newer and presumably younger ones too.
Whilst not a confirmation yet, it certainly keeps the flame alive for
Face/Off fans that weāll see a true sequel to John Wooās beloved action movie. Weāll let you know as we hear more.
