From Olivia Colman being potty-mouthed to the Russo brothers reuniting with Chris Pratt, here’s a whole lot of movie news in one post. It may have wandered across your news feed of late but there’s been an election happening in the US of late. As a result, US studios, production companies and distributors have been in something of a holding pattern, not wishing to see their announced projects lost within a whirlwind political news cycle. A new week has dawned however, and with the election all over, bar the shouting, there’s been a deluge of new film announcements and casting news. To make them easier to read, on this occasion we’ve included them altogether in a round-up of sorts. Enjoy! Jordan Peele A date has been set for Jordan Peele’s next horror film, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Universal has announced that the film will hit cinemas on July 22nd, 2022. The studio have declined to release any more details than that, at present. We do know that it will be an original film that Peele has written himself, according to a prior announcement. We’ll keep you updated as more details are revealed. Ernest Hemingway Variety is reporting that The Hunger Games' Josh Hutcherson and Sabrina Impacciatore of The Passion Of The Christ have joined Liv Shreiber in the already-shooting adaptation of the Ernest Hemingway novel Across The Water And Into The Trees for Tribune Pictures. The film is helmed by Paula Ortiz and is currently shooting in Italy. The plot follows a mentally-scarred WWI colonel who has to deal with a romance with a younger woman whilst contending with his own mortality. The Salamander Variety is also reporting that producer Art Timpson will be hopping into the director’s chair to helm The Salamander Lives Twice, starting production in the spring. The film will feature Adrien Brody as a mysterious man with no memory and a locked briefcase who is found washed up on the shores of a remote island. Vera Farmiga will co-star and the script has been penned by Toby Harvard, who wrote Come To Daddy, which was produced by Timpson. The Russo Brothers Deadline is reporting that the Russo Brothers are allying with Universal to produce a high-octane action comedy. It also looks like they’ll be reopening their MCU rolodex (or probably just texting) as the film is set to star Guardians Of The Galaxy’s Chris Pratt. Wu Jing, star of the wildly successful Chinese action franchise Wolf Warrior is also set to star. The film, Saigon Bodyguards is a remake of the 2016 movie of the same name, following the intense and hilarious journey of two professional bodyguards tasked with ‘their most important assignment ever.’ No word yet on who will be directing. Michael Bisping Dark Horizons is reporting that retired MMA star and former UFC champion Michael Bisping will lead an adaptation of Mark Turley’s novel, The Journeyman. Bisping has previously taken smaller roles in films such as xXx: Return Of Xander Cage and Den Of Thieves but this will mark his first leading role. Dax Phelan will direct. Bisping will play a former boxer with a heavy string of losses, who despite being diagnosed with neurological damage continues his career on the small-scale independent fighting circuit. Puppies Jennifer Love Hewitt, Keith David and Eric Roberts are all attached to the live action family film, Pups Alone (although Love Hewitt will only be lending her voice skills to the project). The film charts the fortunes of a ragtag band of neighbourhood dogs who come together to save Christmas from a group of thieving scoundrels. Shooting has begun and we’d expect to see it in a year’s time. Thanks to Deadline for this one. Potty-mouthed Olivia Colman Variety is reporting that Olivia Colman has accepted the lead role in Joyride, the first narrative feature from Emer Reynolds, better known for her documentary films such as 2017’s The Farthest.  Colman takes on the role of Joy, ‘a train-wreck who is on an adventure but ready to give away her new-born baby to her best friend. What she can’t anticipate is that a cheeky street urchin is also along for the ride. Both are on the run; two diamonds in the rough forming a riotous pair.’ The film, described as a ‘foul-mouthed fairy tale’ sounds tailor-made for Colman and is set to shoot in West Ireland in 2021. Abel Ferrera/Ethan Hawke Variety is reporting that Ethan Hawke will be teaming up with writer/director Abel Ferrera (Bad Lieutenant) in an upcoming war thriller titled Zeroes And Ones. Hawke will take on the role of an American soldier stationed in Rome who finds himself under siege when the Vatican is blown up. The film is set to shoot in Italy later this month. Ruth Wilson/Andrew Scott Finally, Dark Horizons have announced that British actors Ruth Wilson and Andrew Scott will be uniting for HBO Films to make the espionage thriller, Oslo. A release is expected on the HBO platforms next year as the project is currently shooting in Prague. Bartlett Sher is directing from a script from J.T. Rogers, who also penned the original stage play. Steven Spielberg is among the film’s producers. An adaptation of the award-winning play, the film centres on the secret political travails and entanglements of a small number of committed Palestinians, Israelis and a Norwegian couple that eventually led to the 1993 Oslo Peace Accords.
