Heist thriller sequel Den Of Thieves 2: Pantera, starring Gerard Butler, is out in January. Hereās a new trailer:
Den Of Thieves 2: Pantera clearly means business. Why else would its title so confidently stride into the world of colon and incomprehensible word combinations unless it wanted to throw down with the likes of John Wick; Chapter 3 ā Parabellum or even Highlander 2: The Quickening?
Perhaps itās because weāre set to get a couple of hours of Gerard Butler gruffly chasing down criminals in slickly shot action sequences while lots of other actors try to out-scowl each other? We certainly hope so. The film has shot in both France and Serbia with Den Of Thievesā writer and director Christian Gudegast returning alongside Butler. O’Shea Jackson and Meadow Williams will be reprising their roles too.
Hereās the synopsis:
Having plotted to rob the Federal Reserve Bank in the first film, this time the crew will be aiming for an equally-impossible take. Butler’s Big Nick is back on the hunt in Europe and closing in on Donnie (Jackson Jr.) who is embroiled in the dangerous world of diamond thieves and the infamous Panther mafia as they plot a massive heist of the world’s biggest diamond exchange.
The film is due for release in the US on the 10th January 2025. As for us here in the UK, no official release date has yet been announced but itās widely expected to debut in the first month of the year over here too. Disaster sequel Greenland: Migration is also due out in 2025, so itās a busy year for Butler.
Weāre especially curious to see if the film can reprise the modest commercial success the first film achieved for Lionsgate when it earned around $80m for the studio from a reported $30m production budget. After home format and streaming releases, that should have made Lionsgate a few quid, even after marketing costs. Hereās hoping the sequel can do the same when it debuts early next year.
