Should you not have seen Aaron Sorkin’s
The Trial Of The Chicago 7 yet, and if you aren’t a Netflix subscriber, then from 8am this morning, you have the opportunity to watch the film for free on Netflix’s
YouTube page.
The streaming giant will be making the film available to mark the 51st anniversary of the trial ending. The film is a dramatic retelling of seven men who were put on trial following the outbreak of violence at the 1968 Democratic National Convention.
Here’s a synopsis for the film:
What was intended to be a peaceful protest at the 1968 Democratic National Convention turned into a violent clash with the police and the National Guard. The organizers of the protest – Abbie Hoffman, Tom Hayden, Jerry Rubin, Rennie Davis, David Dellinger, Lee Weiner & John Froines along with Bobby Seale, the co-founder of the Black Panthers were charged with conspiracy to incite a riot and the trial that followed was one of the most notorious in history.
Making the film available to a wider audience isn’t a bad move in terms of boosting its profile ahead of the impending awards season either. It’s certainly worth a watch, especially whilst it is available for free. You can find the link
