The Adam Project cracks the all-time Netflix top five, according to latest figures from the streamer.
Streaming giant Netflix doesn’t have a box office chart per se, and has very much released numbers for its movies on its own terms. But over the last few months, it’s also got into the habit of releasing regular updates – backed with statistics – as to what’s popular and what isn’t.
As such, each month it releases its all-time list of most popular films in the English language on the service, which it measures by the number of hours they’ve been watched in their first 28 days on Netflix. Given that metric, it’s unsurprising that Martin Scorsese’s
The Irishman makes it onto the list, with its four hour running time… no, you can finish the gag yourself.
The big new entry into the list is the Ryan Reynolds-headlined
The Adam Project, a film I confess I found an absolute delight. That’s already in the top five, in a list that contains two other Ryan Reynolds movies too.
Here, then, is the current top ten as things stand…
- Red Notice (364m hours)
- Don’t Look Up (359m hours)
- Bird Box (282m)
- The Adam Project (233m)
- Extraction (231m)
- The Unforgivable (214m)
- The Irishman (214m)
- The Kissing Booth 2 (209m)
- 6 Underground (205m)
- Spenser Confidential (197m)
The posh fruity TV series
Bridgerton, by way of contrast, is the most popular show on the service in its first 28 days, with 625m hours for season one (including when people wound back to watch the rude bits).
Bottom line: expect Netflix to pay Ryan Reynolds for more films. And to commission more fruit.
