Netflix confirms more of its plans for a lower-priced subscription service, but still manages to miss out how much itāll cost and when to expect it.
As it had suggested and promised earlier in the year, streaming giant Netflix has announced that an ad-funded subscription option for the service is on its way.
Furthermore, it’s also announced that it’s teamed up with Microsoft to offer such a service. Microsoft has been chosen as Netflix’s global advertising technology and sales partner to push forward with the plan.
As per a statement from Netflix, “Microsoft has the proven ability to support all our advertising needs as we work together to build a new ad-supported offering. More importantly, Microsoft offered the flexibility to innovate over time on both the technology and sales side, as well as strong privacy protections for our members”.
Said statement doesn’t actually get to the nub of what people want to know, namely when said service is going to be added and how much it’s going to actually cost. But still, two big companies have got together, so that’s nice.
You can read the statement for yourself
