Cancelled Netflix series Warrior Nun will return with three feature films, after huge support from fans on social media.
The series was based on the comic book character Warrior Nun Areala, by Ben Dunn. It was adapted into a TV series by Netflix, which released two seasons before cancelling it. Now the show is set to return in film form, with three movies on the way, Executive Producer Dean English has revealed.
Alba Baptista played the main character of the show. The series saw her character wake up in a morgue with a holy artifact embedded in her back. She learns she has become part of an ancient order that fights demons on Earth, and now powerful forces are also hunting her.
Since its cancellation the show has been the subject of an intense fan campaign to revive it, which it seems has had a hand in spawning the new planned trilogy. In a statement, Dean English credits the fans with the series’ revival.
“I need to start by thanking all of you loyal fans. It’s because of you and your incredible energy that we keep pushing forward to make these stories. You guys really make it all worthwhile. So thank you so much for your continued support,” he said. “I am very happy to announce that
Warrior Nun is coming back as a trilogy of motion pictures. Once again, a trilogy of feature films. Three.”
The announcement will be very welcome for fans of the show, though more details are bound to be scarce while the Hollywood strikes are ongoing. We’ll bring you more on
