The classic 1980s manga City Hunger is getting the live action movie treatment as Netflix grows its manga-inspired offering.
It has been announced that Netflix is working on a live action movie adaptation of the celebrated 1980s manga,
City Hunter. Ryohei Suzuki has signed on to star in the adaptation, which is based on the manga that has sold over 50 million copies around the world.

City Hunter was one of the leading titles in the 1980s āManga Waveā that saw the medium attain global popularity. The franchise was adapted several times for the screen in several countries, including Hong Kong (where a certain Jackie Chan would feature in one such adaptation).
Yuichi Sato, director of
Strawberry Nights will helm the new take which surprisingly will be the first time an adaptation of the series will originate from Japan.
Speaking of Japan, the news regarding Netflixās involvement will further please fans of the platformās growing stable of Japanese content. The adaptation is sed to be a fusion of the 1980s setting from the original manga, but with some more modern elements too.
