Murder She Wrote is set to become a movie

A film version of the beloved 1980s TV series is heading our way courtesy of the writing team behind the upcoming Dumb Money.  We have to say, we’re really looking forward to seeing Dumb Money when it releases later this month. The film is based on the true story that follows ‘a group of Reddit users who manage to throw Wall Street’s established stock investors into a state of panic, to the point where one app took the controversial step of suspending trading on videogame store Gamestop’s stocks.’ It’s got quite the cast too, with Paul Dano, Seth Rogen, Shailene Woodley, Sebastian Stan, Pete Davidson, Nick Offerman, Vincent D’Onofrio, Anthony Ramos, and Dane DeHaan co-starring in the film based on Ben Mezrich’s book The Antisocial Network. Now, the writers of the film, Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo have revealed that they have teamed with producer Amy Pascal to work on an adaptation of Murder, She Wrote, the classic 1980s US murder mystery show that made the late Angela Lansbury into a beloved star. Universal has commissioned the project which was revealed by Schuker Blum to Collider. “We’ll tell you one thing that hasn’t been reported yet, which is we have written a theatrical feature film version of Murder, She Wrote for Universal, and we’re really excited,” said Schuker Blum. The piece also reveals that the in-demand writing du also have a few other projects in the works including the Ryan Gosling-led Wolfman (we were wondering what had happened to that one), Bride, starring Scarlett Johansson, and the Sue Mengers biopic Sue. Murder, She Wrote ran for 12 seasons and was a daytime TV regular here in the UK for many years. The series followed mystery writer and amateur detective Jessica Fletcher (portrayed by the late Angela Lansbury) as she solved murders.
