Mike Hodges, the director of films such as Flash Gordon, Pulp and Croupier, has died at the age of 90, it’s been announced.
Here’s some sad news. Filmmaker Mike Hodges has passed away it was revealed overnight, at the age of 90. It’s quite an innings he’s had, but it’s still sad to read of his passing.
His film career saw him direct some flat-out greats. Just this month, the underrated Croupier for instance has been giving a 4K disc release for the first time. Most of though I’d imagine have at least one of Get Carter and Flash Gordon sitting on our DVD shelf.
Other films of his that really stand out include the superb Pulp and The Terminal Man. His final film was 2003’s excellent I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead.
He’s left an indelible mark on British cinema, and our thoughts are with his friends and family. What a life, what a career. Thanks very much, Mr Hodges.
