Marvel’s upcoming Blade film isn’t – as had been rumoured – landing in 2022, yet it will be starting production in the summer.
News on the Marvel Cinematic Universe
Blade film has been pretty scarce ever since Kevin Feige announced – alongside Mahershala Ali – that it would be reviving the fearsome vampire-hunter during 2019’s Comic-Con. We know that Ali will be playing the fearsome vampire slayer, whilst
Watchmen scribe Stacy Osei-Kuffour, has penned the film.
The
Blade project also got itself a new title,
Blade: The Vampire Slayer, which was most likely to distinguish it from Wesley Snipes’ previous trilogy. Oh, it looks like Delroy Lindo will be popping up in an unspecified role too.
Last month, a since-deleted tweet from Marvel’s India account suggested that the film has a release date of 7th October, 2022. You can see the image that was posted below…

However, with cameras not even rolling yet, we’d suggest that they’d need to get moving really rather quickly to hit that deadline.
However, a new report by industry magazine, Production Weekly (by way of
Collider) has made a more realistic claim: the film will enter production next summer, most likely releasing the year afterwards.
The magazine also stated that two other Marvel projects,
Echo and
Werewolf By Night, both headed towards Disney+, would film early next year for 2022 releases. We’ll bring you more updates on
Blade as we hear them . Just don’t book a day off next October to see it.
