Disney announces dates for a bunch of new Marvel films – and there are four a year, starting from 2021.
If you were wondering how Disney was looking to fill the Star Wars-sizes gap in its schedule for the next few years, then the answer has proven pretty clear: the Marvel Cinematic Universe is plugging the gap.
With the announcement of a fresh raft of release dates, we now learn that Disney will be bringing us four Marvel films a year from 2021 onwards. It’s earmarked the following dates for the films (with names of the films where we have them).
February 12th 2021: Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings
May 7th 2021: Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness
July 16th 2021: Spider-Man 3
November 5th 2021: Thor: Love And Thunder
February 18th 2022
May 6th 2022: Black Panther II
July 29th 2022
October 7th 2022
February 17th 2023
May 5th 2023
July 28th 2023
November 3rd 2023
Just five of those dates, as you can see, currently have films attached to them. But in announcing the latter five dates for its calendar, Disney has confirmed that the four films a year cycle is longer term, rather than a one-off in 2021.
The studio’s schedule was at one stage set to include one Star Wars film a year until Solo’s box office changed that strategy.
Expect too at least one live action take on an animated feature, one Pixar film and one Walt Disney Animation Studios movie each year as part of the Disney slate. And expect the gaps in the above to start being filled in soon. You can add the third Ant-Man and Guardians Of The Galaxy films in there for a start…
