Ever wondered where gangsters get those sharp suits from? Graham Moore’s directorial debut promises answers.
Graham Moore, who previously won an Academy Award for his scripting of 2015’s The Imitation Game, will be stepping into the director’s chair for his next project, The Outfit. It’s a film that he’s has co-written with actor and writer Johnathan McClain.
The film charts the fortunes of ‘a Savile Row suit tailor in London who after a personal tragedy lands in inner city Chicago where he makes beautiful clothes for the only people around who can afford them — a family of vicious gangsters.’
Casting has been announced for the film and it sounds promising so far.
Mark Rylance will be playing the tailor, whilst Dylan O’Brien, Zoey Deutch and Johnny Flynn are all set to appear too. FilmNation and Focus, who recently partnered to bring (the still yet to release in the UK) Promising Young Woman to the screen, are behind the film.
Moore had this to say about the project: “If you’d told me years ago, when Johnathan and I were first dreaming up this story, that I’d get to direct my first film with a cast as exquisitely talented as Mark, Zoey, Dylan and Johnny, I’d have said you were nuts. And honestly, if you’d said that back then, you might have been. This film is such a deep labour of love for me and our whole team, and I could not ask for better partners than our friends at FilmNation and Focus.”
Production is set to begin in London in March. We’ll bring you more updates on The Outfit as we hear them.
